Consultation has concluded

Throughout the summer of 2022, 10 potable water bottle fill stations were installed on City fire hydrants throughout the community as a pilot project to provide convenient access to drinking water in areas where such access may be limited. The program was evaluated on usage (based on meter readings at each site), community feedback, and cost/benefit analysis.

Water in the City fire hydrants is potable and safe to drink with routine inspections and tests completed at the time of installation as well as throughout the period of time each station is installed on a hydrant.

In 2023, water bottle fill stations are located at:

North:

  • Big Marble Go Centre at 2000 Division Avenue NW
  • Jeffries Trail at the corner of Fourth Avenue NE and Sixth Street NE
  • East edge of Parkview Close NE

Downtown:

  • Towne Square on the corner of First Street SE and Sixth Avenue SE
  • First Street SE in front of City Hall
  • Heritage Pavilion in Strathcona Island Park

South:

  • Carry Drive Trail near 78 Carter Crescent SE
  • Saamis Rotary Park
  • South Ridge Trail near 4803 Southlands Drive SE (by Masterpiece Southland Meadows)
  • South Boundary Road SE at Home Depot
